A good tip that has helped me is to either drink diet soda or water. I use to love to drink cokes and sweet tea with all of my meals. I switched to diet pepsi, diet coke, and water and I lost a good amount of weight. It took me about a month to get use to diet drinks but now regular sodas are too sweet for me.

I dont drink carbonated drinks any more... Just water and juice but i am looking for an alternative to bottled juice i crave because of the high sugar content and that bullshit corn syrup you find in everything nowadays

great advice, especially to those trying to cut caloric intake, its easier to cut back on the type of drink over food..

each 12 oz soft drink is 140 calories, 4-6 of these a day and its impossible to lose weight ....

I've basically done the same thing. I'm 35 years old and have maintained my body weight w/ in 5 pounds for the last 10 years. I am a firefighter and there is ALWAYS sweet tea or Kool-Aid at the fire station. When I first got hired I was still drinking coca-cola's and sweet tea. So, I would go through three-five 32 ounce glasses a day of sweet tea or kool-aid at work. I noticed about a year later I was getting a little gut. I started drinking diet drinks/sodas and water only. I occasionally have juice or milk (other than beer) that contain calories. Although I run quite a bit I'd have a real hard time maintaining my weight if I consumed all those "empty" calories.....
